This map shows the approximate locations of undersea communications cables and landing stations across the globe. This data, from Greg's Cable Map, is an attempt to consolidate available information about undersea communications infrastructure.

Cables

The Cables data details the approximate locations and connections of submarine communications cables. Each cable is attributed with its name, capacity (in gigabits per second), the URL the cable information was sourced from, the cable's approximate length, and the year the cable began operating.

Landing Stations

Landing Stations are the approximate locations where undersea communications cables make landfall. Each Landing Station is attributed with the name of the city and country in which the station is located.

NOTES:

Data are not exact and are shown at approximate locations.

• Cable data are intended to be a schematic representation of cables and their connectivity. The cable paths and branching patterns may not be geographically accurate.
• Many Landing Stations are placed within the city where they are located rather than at the exact location.
